Lonestar Tickets – Lonestar Forges on with New Frontman
Lonestar has earned its reputation as one of the most prolific and top-charting groups in country music. They have been able to not only charm their country fan base but also become top charters with the adult contemporary crowd, as well. This time around, though, they may have to prove themselves all over again. The reason lies in the lineup change since the band was at the top of the charts. Their longtime frontman Richie McDonald recently dropped a bomb on the rest of the band and announced his desire to go solo, leaving the band to search for a new frontman.
From interviews, it looks as though the split was difficult on the rest of the band. Richie recalled his decision to The Boot recently. In the interview, he admitted that he and the rest of the band didn't see eye to eye about the future of the group. He said, "I think they probably weren't happy with my decision, but those guys have families to take care of and to support, and where there's a will, there's a way." McDonald is now working on his solo career, but that doesn't spell the end of Lonestar.
Instead, the rest of the band members 'Dean Sams, Keech Rainwater and Michael Britt'decided to press on and find a replacement for McDonald. Britt also spoke to The Boot, and he revealed that the band saw something special in their eventual choice of McDonald's replacement - Cody Collins. Britt said, "He does the ballads just as well as he does the rock stuff, and he just has this sound that if we were to say, 'Here's what we want our future to sound like,' then that was it. We felt like his voice can do our old songs with a different spin, but also take us someplace new. We didn't want a carbon copy."
Fans will get to see the new direction of Lonestar on April 27, when their newest album is released. The album is called Party Heard Round the World, and it is the band's first release since 2006's Mountains. The album has already yielded one single, "Let Me Love You," with more sure to follow. The band has already booked dates leading up to and following the release, with stops in cities like Sarasota, Fla.; Kittanning, Pa.; Webster, Mass. and many more. Since it is their first tour in years, Lonestar tickets are sure to sell fast, and fans can find theirs at StubHub.com.
Lonestar's history dates back to 1995, when they dropped their self-titled debut album. Since then, they have released multiple top albums like Crazy Nights, Lonely Grill, I'm Already There, Let's Be Us Again, Coming Home and Mountains. Those albums yielded top-charting singles like "No News," "Come Cryin' to Me," "Amazed," "Smile," "What About Now," "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In" and "Mr. Mom." Time will only tell how their new album will fit in their catalog, but longtime fans of the Texas-based band are inevitably excited about their return to country music.
